Qigong

Qigong is a 4000-year-old Chinese practice that connects your mind, body and spirit. Castle’s qigong class is taught by Elizabeth Chen Christenson. The class will emphasize the health benefits of qigong:

  • Strength
  • Balance
  • Vitality
  • Concentration
  • Harmony
  • Cardio-vascular conditioning
  • Muscular toning
  • Brain oxygenation
  • Pulmonary improvement
  • Stress reduction.

The qigong exercises in this class are seated and standing movements that benefit the body, mind, and spirit. The instructor will demonstrate and help with correct posture and movement.

Windward YMCA Members—FREE
Castle Employees—FREE

A fixed fee of $40 per month or $100 per quarter covers all fitness program classes at Castle. An initial, one-time fitness assessment must be completed by all participants for a fee of $25.

Members of the Windward YMCA may attend classes for free as space allows. Besides completing Castle registration forms upon their initial registration, YMCA members must show their YMCA membership card each month to request participation in Castle’s fitness program for the following month. The $25 fee for the required initial assessment is not waived for YMCA members.

Students should wear comfortable clothes that are white or light in color, wear socks, and bring a cushion if they can sit on the floor; otherwise, chairs will be provided.

Students should eat something light 45 to 60 minutes before the class.

Medical clearance may be required prior to participation.
